A great post on the struggles women face in tech and geekdom as a whole. There have always been people who have known about it and/or experienced it but it seems only now people are starting to seriously do something about it. Women continue to struggle against the ”nerd bro” culture that permeates geekdom. Sometimes it shows up in the form of direct backlash and harassment, other times in more subtle ways where condescending tones are used to devalue our worth. Sites like GeekFeminism need to exist for reasons similar to why BlackFemaleCoders needs to exist: more people need to know these issues so we can all work together to resolve them.
